TRAFFORD FC’s Nia Bayunu has been placed on the transfer list at his own request, with the club advertising the defender for sale on Twitter.

The Evo-Stik Premier Division club took the unusual step of stating they are looking for a transfer fee for Bayunu and any interested teams should contact the club – and not the player himself.

They also asked any potential suitors to message the club’s Twitter account directly or contact club chairman John Eadie.

The 24-year-old English centre-back has been an ever-present since arriving at Shawe View in the summer of 2009 but has outlined his wishes to embark on a fresh career challenge.

He was named Supporters Player of the Year in each of his first two seasons at the club and was made captain in 2012 before signing an improved contract with the Flixton-based outfit a year later.

The former Stockport Sports and FC United youth player has made 287 appearances for Trafford to date, scoring 13 goals.

Trafford are currently second-bottom in the seventh tier of English football, nine points adrift from safety, after a goalless draw at Nantwich Town in manager Graham Heathcote’s first game in charge last Saturday.

The North, who are celebrating their 25th anniversary this season, entertain rivals Curzon Ashton this weekend.
