TRAFFORD FC will be looking to continue their good form on Saturday as they face Radcliffe Borough at Shawe View in the Evo-Stik First Division North (KO 15:00 BST).
After Tuesday’s 3-0 win against Droylsden in the Manchester Premier Cup in which all the goals came in 23 minutes, the North face a Radcliffe side who also got off to a winning start in the same cup, with a 3-1 away win against Curzon Ashton.
Tom Baker’s Trafford side are 14th place in the eighth tier of English football at present, having played 12 games this season – more than any other side in the league.
Both Trafford and Radcliffe Borough will be looking to rectify their league form, with both sides recording only two wins in their last five league games.
Saturday’s game will see the first meeting between the two clubs since the 2012-13 First Division North campaign, in which Radcliffe Borough recorded a 2-0 win at the Belvoir Stadium, with Trafford winning the reverse fixture 4-1 earlier in the season.
Having won only six of the last 16 fixtures between the two sides since the 2000/01 season, Trafford will be looking to even out the record with a squad bolstered by multiple signings, including defender Kyle Jacobs and forward Phil Dean.
Non-League Day will surely see more kids getting behind their local team, as they have free admission to the ground, as well as the opportunity for either a free drink or hot dog. As well as this, all Armed Forces, NHS, and Emergency Service workers will have free entry.
Saturday’s event should prove to be a treat for footballing reasons too, as Trafford and Radcliffe Borough are just four points apart in the division, which could make for a fairly even and open game, with lots of entertaining play for the new fans that the event will attract.
Trafford could hand debuts to defender Evan Gumbs, 18, and winger Joel Melia, 20, who joined on loan from Tranmere Rovers and Ashton United respectively on Friday.
Trafford: Pilling, Jacobs, Lambert, Rick, Ledson, Smyth, Palmer, Reece, Shaw, Dorney, Dean, Martin, Dolling, Caldecott, Granite, Bromley.
Radcliffe Borough: Cheetham, Middleton, Hoctor, Fitzgerald, Smith, McGrath, Rokka, Davies, Landregan, Burey, Valentine, Smith, McMahon, Hulme, Hindle, Knowles.
