WITH 30 goals in 10 games, bizarre red cards and stirring comebacks, it was an action-packed Non-League Day on Saturday involving our Football LIVE clubs across Greater Manchester. Here’s a summary of the afternoon’s results…

Vanarama National League:

Macclesfield Town extended their unbeaten run to four games in the lunchtime kick-off with a 2-1 win over bottom-club Kidderminster Harriers, who remain winless after Dave Hockaday’s first game as head coach.

The division’s second-lowest scorers Altrincham suffered a ninth league defeat of the season and remain six points above the drop zone following a 2-0 defeat at Aldershot Town.

Vanarama National League North:

Newly-promoted Curzon Ashton earned their third league win of the campaign with a comfortable 4-1 win over Lowestoft Town, who had two players and their assistant manager sent off in the final 15 minutes at the Tameside Stadium.

Goals from Niall Cummins, Jordan Wright and substitute Chris Rowney put Curzon firmly in control before the hour mark and, after Daniel Crow’s consolation for the Suffolk side, Alex Brown rounded it off in the last minute.

Evo-Stik First Division North:

Trafford moved into the top half of the table as their fine home form at Shawe View continued with a 2-0 win over local rivals Radcliffe Borough, who have now lost six of their eight away league games this term.

Mossley recorded their second away league win of the campaign to increase their unbeaten run to four matches with a 2-0 victory over Scarborough Athletic, who have not won in eight matches.

Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round:

Evo-Stik First Division North leaders Northwich Victoria continued their impressive run by winning at Ewen Fields for the second time in their replayed tie as Hyde United suffered a fourth successive defeat.

The Vics won 1-0 last month but the tie was forced to be played again by the Football Association after Jim Gannon’s men were found guilty of fielding goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe who was ineligible.

Emirates FA Cup Third Qualifying Round:

Salford City will have to overcome Bradford Park Avenue in a midweek replay in west Yorkshire if they are to progress to the fourth qualifying round for the first time after holding the National League North side to a 1-1 draw at Moor Lane.

Sixth-tier Stalybridge Celtic will also face a replay at Bower Fold on Tuesday night after two early goals in a 1-1 draw at past FA Cup giant-killers Chasetown, of the Evo-Stik First Division South, in Staffordshire.

Ashton United’s indifferent start to the campaign continued as the Robins failed to advance beyond this stage of the competition for the seventh season running after a 2-0 defeat at in-form Rushden & Diamonds, who play in the Southern League Division One Central.

And, last but certainly not least, Droylsden’s FA Cup hopes are over for another year but only after a thrilling comeback fell short against a Gainsborough Trinity side two divisions higher.

The Bloods, second from bottom in the First Division North, came from 3-0 down against the odds to level matters and had their captain Stephen Hall sent off just after a late winner from Trinity substitute Matt Wilson left Dave Pace’s men heartbroken.
