DROYLSDEN return to The Butchers Arms as they host Prescot Cables in the Evo-stik First Division North on Saturday (KO 15:00).

Dave Pace’s men come into the game smarting after Tuesday night’s 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Warrington Town which took the Bloods losing streak to four games, in which time they’ve leaked 17 goals. Droylsden will also be looking to end a run of seven league matches without a win – their only success came back in mid-August against basement-dwellers New Mills.

The Bloods could however take confidence from their FA Cup run this season. Barton Town, Ossett Albion and Lancaster City were all dispatched in the world’s oldest cup competition before the Bloods lost by the odd goal in seven to National League North side Gainsborough Trinity last Saturday.

Andy Paxton takes his Prescot side east on the back of a fairly successful week in which four points were acquired from league fixtures against Ossett and Kendal but they were both on the home soil of Valerie Park. The Cables will be looking to prevent a third straight defeat on their travels however having suffered losses at Brighouse Town and Farsley Celtic in their most recent ventures.

The Bloods are set to be without Shaquille Clarke-Adam after being sent-off in Warrington on Tuesday night but there is often a discrepancy as to when the suspension kicks in at this level so it’s possible he will be appearing at The Butchers Arms on Saturday.

Cables announced the signing of former Cammel Lairds man Joe Evans in the week and he is expecting to make his away debut for Prescot tomorrow.

Droylsden are only off the bottom of the Evo-Stik First Division North table thanks to the wretched form of New Mills who have lost all of their 13 fixtures. The Bloods could move out of the relegation zone with a victory on Saturday coupled with a defeat for Harrogate Railway Athletic against Northwich Victoria. Prescot currently sit in 15th place but could move as high as ninth with a win due to the tight nature of the current league table.
