A GRIEVING couple from Manchester lit a candle for their stillborn baby girl during an annual Lights of Love service.

The ceremony organised by Sands, a stillborn and neonatal death charity, took place at the Methodist Church in Warrington on December 4.

Vanessa Ellis, 31, and her partner Tim Fletcher, 32, attended the event after they said goodbye to their baby Grace just over six weeks ago.

They were provided with a memory box at St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester, which was donated by a support group, so they can remember their precious moments with their daughter.

According to Tommy’s, who fund research into stillbirth, the UK had one of the highest rates of stillbirth in Europe in 2013.

The candle service was held simultaneously at 13 venues across Britain to remember lost babies and loved ones.
