Four years after the final Harry Potter movie bid its emotional goodbye, Warner Bros. have unveiled the trailer for the much anticipated spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Based on the book written originally in 2001 by J.K. Rowling to educate fans about the animals featured in the Harry Potter series, Fantastic Beasts will be released in cinemas worldwide on November 18, 2016.

The film will follow the adventures of the wizard Newt Scamander (portrayed by Oscar nominee Eddie Redmayne) in 1920s New York City, when a fanatical extremist group place relations between magical and non-magical people in a dangerous position.

The trailer opens just as Harry Potter the Prizoner of Azkaban did, with a hushed voice whispering the words “Lumos maxima” – the charm to produce bright light.

From there we are taken through an array of shots, including what appears to be a large room which is architecturally similar to the Ministry of Magic. Scamander also fires a spell towards an unidentified rival.

Excitement levels will no doubt reach a peak during 2016 as more information begins to reach the general public.
