A MAN has been arrested after a woman was stabbed in Collyhurst.

The incident occured at around 11:15pm yesterday evening, with police and ambulance vehicles attending the address on Teignmouth Avenue.

A 25-year-old woman was found with 17 stab wounds to her torso and legs before being taken to hospital.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Cunliffe of North Manchester division said: “We have a team of detectives investigating this incident and we have made an arrest.

“Fortunately, the woman is in a stable condition and she has been sat up in hospital talking to specially-trained officers, who are supporting her”.

The women is believed to be in a stable condition in hospital.
