BRITISH Transport Police have issued a warning to the general public to be wary of robbers in the run up to Christmas.
In a statement issued this afternoon, they said that “Christmas is the perfect time of year for thieves to strike.”
The statement continued: “Officers are calling on the travelling public to keep an eye on their shopping as well as phones, purses, handbags and their contents.”
PCSO Dax Byrne-Turner of Preston BTP said: “Passengers should keep their luggage and belongings with them or in sight at all times on their journey.
“Most of the theft that occurs on trains in this area is down to opportunists taking unattended small bags and electronic gadgets like phones and tablets which are often left behind by their owners.”
