MACCLESFIELD Town are aiming to turn around their dismal run of form at Moss Rose on Saturday afternoon as they welcome play-off hopefuls Wrexham (KO 15:00 GMT).

This weekend’s fixture looks a daunting one for Macclesfield, who go into the game on the back of a run of four straight league defeats.

This recent downturn in fortunes for John Askey’s side has seen them slip to 12th in the Vanarama National League, in addition to an FA trophy exit at the hands of Torquay United.

Visitors Wrexham, on the other hand, will be hoping for a fourth win in a row in a bid to cement their place in the play-offs.

The North Wales side have won each of their last three games by a 2-0 score line and have not lost in the league since a narrow 1-0 defeat to Braintree on January 26.

Despite the Silkmen’s abysmal form, they sit only seven points adrift of fourth-placed Wrexham having played two games fewer. They are also well-rested – the postponement of last week’s fixture against Dover Athletic means they have been out of action since February 16.

Town will also take encouragement from their previous meeting with the Dragons this season – emerging victorious in a 3-2 thriller at the Racecourse.

Macc boss Askey will also hope new-signing Jimmy Phillips can add some much-needed enthusiasm. The midfielder, who is on a month-long loan from Gateshead, is in line to make his debut this weekend.

Gary Mills’ Wrexham visit Moss Rose with three former Silkmen in their ranks. Connor Jennings, Adriano Moke and Rhys Taylor could all potentially feature against their former team.

Provisional Squads:

Macclesfield Town: Jalal (GK), Cowan, Pilkington, Byrne, Fitzpatrick, Halls, Holroyd, Whitaker, Turnbull (C), Sampson, Dennis, Branagan, Turner, Styche, Phillips, Diagne

Wrexham: Taylor (GK), Carrington, Smith, Heslop, Newton, Hudson, Jennings (C), Evans, Fowler, Beck, Jackson, Moke, York, O’Reilly, Briscoe, Royle
