STOCKPORT County have completed the signing of midfielder Tom Field from fellow National League North side Chorley until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old only joined the Magpies at the end of December after spending three-and-a-half years with Airbus UK Broughton, helping the Welsh Premier League club qualify for the Uefa Europa League.

The former Everton apprentice could make his Hatters debut against Tamworth this weekend after training with his new team-mates on Thursday night.

County boss James Gannon told the club’s website: “Tom was a player we were aware of as having a proven playing record and when our needs for an experienced central midfielder matched his availability we felt it was right to add him to our squad.”

County were keen to bring in a midfield player as Lewis Montrose prepares to start a suspension and Glenn Rule continues to be sidelined through injury.

Liverpool-born Field has also had spells with Leigh RMI, The New Saints, Vauxhall Motors, Chester and Northwich Victoria before joining Airbus in June 2012.

The dead-ball specialist scored 16 goals last season and was shortlisted for the Welsh Premier League Player of the Year award.

County have also confirmed that versatile defender Dale Tonge, 30, has left the club after just three months at Edgeley Park.

Meanwhile, Tamworth have announced the arrival of four players on the eve of Saturday’s match at the Lamb Ground.

The Hatters currently sit 10th in the sixth tier of English football – three places and four points behind Tamworth, who have a game in hand on County.
