MANCHESTER City will face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

Manuel Pellegrini’s City progressed to the semi-finals for the first time in their history with a 3-2 aggregate win over Paris Saint Germain in the quarter-finals. Tied at 2-2 after the first leg in the French capital, Kevin De Bruyne’s spectacular second half goal at the Etihad on Tuesday (April 12) secured progression to the last four.

Real Madrid also progressed to this stage with a 3-2 win over Wolfsburg. Zinedine Zidane’s side were 2-0 down going in the second leg at the Bernabeu, but a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick secured progression for the 10 time winners.

In stark contrast to City, it will be the 27th time the Spanish side have reached this stage of the competition.

The first leg will take place in Manchester on April 26, before the return leg in Madrid on May 4.

It will be the third and fourth time the two have met in the competition after a 3-2 defeat for City and a 1-1 draw in the group stage of the 2012/13 competition.

The other tie will see Atletico Madrid face Bayern Munich and incoming City manager Pep Guardiola meaning a meeting between the two in the final is still possible.

The final will take place at the San Siro in Milan, Italy on Saturday, May 28.
