MANCHESTER band Novustory are calling on their “fellow musicians” for support on funding a European tour.
The Bury-based group have set up a Kickstarter page to raise £2,500 to embark on gigs throughout France.
The alternative rock trio have recently won an international award for Best Alt/Rock EP at the AKADEMIA awards in America, following their release of their album ‘Mirrors’.
Their debut album was recorded at the Blueprint Studios, Manchester with the assistance of producer Gary Hadfield and former Elbow drummer, Richard Jupp.
In recognition of the award, AKADEMIA said:
“With exceptional vocals, machine gun snare work and refined guitar riffs, Novustory has created a collection of songs embodying that which is most intriguing in the alt rock art form.”
Imogen Storey, vocalist for Novustory, believes that record labels will take the band more seriously with a European tour “under their belts”.
She said: “We’re trying to get our music heard by as many people as possible.
“We currently have a strong following of around 3000 between Facebook, instagram and Twitter.
“However, to a record label, this might just be another band who have promoted themselves well!
“We want to show them we’re a young band with a large following and a great set of tunes – and that people want to hear more.”
The band have raised £2,123 of their £2,500 target with over 100 backers.
In a statement on their Kickstarter page, the band said:
“It’s a lot to ask for but this money could really, literally, kick start our career.
“Even if you can literally only contribute fifty pence we would hugely appreciate it and anything more would be a bonus.
“Any money you kindly donate will help us on our journey into lives as professional musicians and, honestly, if it’s ten pence or ten pounds you will receive our eternal irrevocable undying love in return.
“It’s an experience we feel we can’t afford to miss, and the exposure it could provide us with is something we believe we need and deserve.”
