A MANCHESTER man has been charged with murder after a dismembered body was found in a lay-by off the A628.

Derbyshire Constabulary, who led the investigation, have now confirmed the body was that of 36-year-old Yang Liu, from Salford Quays.

The body, which was missing the head and limbs, was discovered torched in a suitcase near Woodhead Pass, just east of Tintwistle village, at about 12.30pm on Monday October 10.

Ming Jiang, 42, from Manchester, was charged with murder on Sunday afternoon.

He appeared before magistrates at Chesterfield Justice Centre on Monday morning to confirm his date of birth.

Jiang will appear at Nottingham Crown Court tomorrow, but has been remanded in custody until the hearing.

It is understood officers identified the victim based on DNA samples taken from the remains of the body.

The rest of the remains are yet to be found.
