LONELY Planet has named North Wales one of the top regions in the world for travellers in 2017.
The region received the accolade in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2017, the publication’s highly anticipated collection of the world’s hottest trends, destinations and experiences for the year ahead.
Lonely Planet’s Editorial Director Tom Hall said:
“We included North Wales in this year’s list of top ten regions because it deserves to be recognised on the global stage. It’s a stunning area with a vast array of activities on offer to keep travellers entertained. North Wales has also become a haunt of in-the-know foodies, so however visitors get their kicks, once they’ve worked up an appetite, they’ll also be well catered for. North Wales is a gem and should be on every traveller’s radar.”

- Something special is going on in the year ahead or a recent development is in place
- The destination offers travelers new things to see or do
- Lonely Planet’s team of experts find the destination overlooked or underrated, and suggests travellers visit before the crowds do.
North Wales featured fourth on the list of top regions for 2017, coming in ahead of South Australia, Aysén in Chile, the Tuamotus in French Polynesia and Coastal Georgia in the USA. The top spot, however, was awarded to the Peruvian Incan site Choquequiro.
