UNIVERSITY of Salford Mens 1s football team slumped to a crushing 10-0 defeat at home to Lancaster University.

It was a game where Salford chances came few and far between.

Lancaster opened the scoring 25 minutes in with a good team goal starting on the right side of the pitch.

Three minutes later, they doubled their lead after Salford failed to clear a corner.

Lancaster added a third a minute before half time after the hosts’ appeared to get a grip on the game.

A fourth was added five minutes after the restart despite UoS making a strong start to the second half.

Lancaster dominated the play and had scored another four in 10 minutes making it 8-0 to the visitors after some poor midfield play from Salford.

A ninth was scored in the 73rd minute and the final goal just before the end of the game bringing the final score to an embarrassing 10-0.

Salford had few chances in the game with Lancaster’s defence holding firm throughout

Their best chance came courtesy of Joe Robinson’s free kick in the 61st minute which hit the bottom of the post.

They will be hoping to put this result behind them and quickly return to winning ways when they face Manchester Metropolitan away next week.
