MACCLESFIELD Town host Dover Athletic on Saturday at the Moss Rose stadium hoping to improve on their recent league inconsistencies.

For the Silkmen, although they sit comfortably in 10th position in the Vanarama National League, they possess just one win in their last eight in the league.

The hosts will be hoping to transfer their Emirates FA Cup form into their domestic results, following the side’s impressive 1-0 away win at League One Walsall, that saw them progress into the second round of the competition.

Nevertheless, Macclesfield manager John Askey will be hoping his side can build on gaining four points from their last six.

However, Askey will know in order to do this, their home results and defence will need to improve.

Macclesfield have lost four at home this season, but with striker Chris Holroyd scoring nine in 20 games, shortly followed by midfielder Danny Whitaker, they will be hoping to take maximum points in order to challenge for a play-off position.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be hoping to continue their recent form that has seen them become the second highest scorers in the league.

The Southerners are fresh from a midweek win against Woking that saw then birthday boy Ross Lafayette bag a brace.

After 10 points from their last 15, The Whites will be hoping a win in Cheshire will seriously aid their promotion efforts as they lie just one point from a play-off position and just three from second.

With this recent surge in form, manager Chris Kinnear will look to Lafayette and Co. to bridge the gap.

With just seven points separating first to sixth, Dover will believe a positive result at Moss Rose will maintain the side’s good fortunes coming into the Christmas period.

With the two teams drawing their last encounter 0-0, and with Moss Rose not being a happy hunting ground for Dover, the Silkmen will be hoping yet again they be a thorn in the side of the league’s in-form team.
