CRISTIANO RONALDO has confirmed that he will not be attending the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

The Portuguese winger is required by Real Madrid for the Club World Championship semi-final against Club América on December 15.

FIFA’s top awards ceremony takes place in Paris tonight.

Over 30 candidates being put forward for the most prestigious individual award in the game of football.

Former Manchester United player Ronaldo and FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi are front runners for the trophy, with the latter winning his 5th title in the 2015 awards.

The iconic award, presented by France Football magazine, is given to the world’s best player, as voted by 173 journalists from across the globe.

It is hotly tipped that Ronaldo will claim the main prize the award.

The Mirror is reporting that an upcoming edition of France Football magazine has allegedly already been produced with Ronaldo on the cover holding the award.

Other notable Premier League nominees for the trophy include Manchester City duo Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne as well as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba of Manchester United.

The winner will be announced when the ceremony starts at 4:30pm later tonight.
