ON JUNE 24th Salford will be celebrating the Coeliac UK’s gluten free food festival which will take place in the AJ Bell stadium.

The free event will run from 11.00am until 15.00pm and will host a wide range of samples and products from local and national gluten free producers which will give guests the chance to discover and try new foods.

The event has been organised by the national charity Coeliac UK. The charity has been experts on coeliac and gluten free diets for nearly 50 years and provide advice and support to over 60,000 members.

The charity also funds essential research into coeliac disease and work with healthcare professionals to provide diagnosis’ aim to improve the availability of gluten free food.

Annette Woolman, Coeliac UK, Director of Membership Services said: “This is the charity’s first Gluten free food festival and we hope it will give visitors the chance to sample and buy a whole range of gluten free delights from local and national gluten free producers.”

There are already around 32 companies hosting stalls at the event, including, Autumn Brewing co., Crabbies, Tesco and Warburtons. However, the number of companies attending the event continues to grow as more and more wish to share their products and knowledge with the community.

Annette continued: “As well as dietetics clinics and specialist talks from experts in the field of coeliac disease, there will also be cookery demonstrations taking place throughout the day.”

One of the talks will be held by leading gastroenterologist, NHS consultant and University of Sheffield professor, David Sanders. Not only is Professor Sanders a medical doctor and researcher but also works closely with the charity as its current council chair.

In addition to the stalls and events held at the festival, there will also be the charities very first Coeliac UK hub where people can find out about the Coeliac UK services and activities for the event goers to take part in.

To end off the day, there will also be a free goodie bag handed out to ticket holders.
