SALE Sharks winger, Josh Charnley has explained he is still developing as a rugby union player ahead of Sale Sharks’ match against Toulouse on Friday.

Almost one year after Charnley made the switch to rugby union club Sale from rugby league outfit Wigan Warriors, he evaluated his transition.

He said: “It’s tough. I have to admit that. It’s a lot different to League, but the boys have helped me massively. The Coaching staff have helped me out.”

I’m still learning. I’m still getting things wrong, but I’m a year into it, so I’m just looking forward to the next couple of years.”

The winger went onto explain that the largest area in which he has had to alter his game is the understanding of his positioning, to correctly fulfill the role of a winger in his new code.

Charnley will make his return to the Sale team in their European Rugby Challenge Cup match against Toulouse.

Charley said of the opposition: “French teams, they’re always big and nasty, they’ve always got a bit of character about them, a bit of oomph about them, so we’ll have to match that.”

“But it’s our back garden and we’re going to do a good job on them I reckon at home.”

Sale Sharks will host Toulouse at the AJ Bell stadium in Salford on Friday, October 13, 8pm kick-off.
