The fight began just after 1pm, and both competitors flew out of the traps very quickly and began throwing punches straight from the off.

Cooper was stronger for the first opening minute, appearing slightly more tactical with his punches and more precise, whilst his opponent seemed a little more brash and aggressive.

His opponent finished the round with better rhythm and connected with more of his hits.

However in a twist of events, just after the second round had commenced the referee stopped the fight after around seven seconds. Cooper’s opponent had received a blow to the side of his eye, which had swelled up.

It was deemed by a medic that he could not continue, as it would be far too dangerous for him to take more hits or pressure to his face.

When discussing how he felt the fight went Cooper said: “I felt the fight went well, I didn’t get off to the best of starts but as I warmed into the round I was able to get my shots off which caused some serious damage to my opponent.

“I would of liked the fight to go the distance so I could of shown people more of my boxing ability, but we got the win and that’s all that matters.”

Discussing the prospect of fighting in Liverpool, the boxer said: “I believe I can win this. I’ve got the tunnel vision to do so. I just need to remain focused and work extremely hard in these next two weeks.”

Cooper will be hoping to make it back-to-back victories. Links to the location details and ticket prices can be found here.
