THE bomb disposal unit has been called to a street in Salford where a suspicious package has been found.

Tallyman Way, in Pendleton, is currently cordoned off as Police attend the scene.

Police were called to reports of a suspicious package at 11.45am on Wednesday, December 6.

Local residents have been advised to stay away from the area.

The road is shut in both directions between Agecroft Road and Lamplight Way.

The cordon has now been lifted however traffic is still moving slowly.

A spokeswoman for GMP has confirmed that a controlled explosion has taken place. The cordon has not yet been lifted.

A member of staff based at Dogs4Us told Quays News that traffic is backed up along Agecroft Road and cannot pass. A colleague who left the building was not allowed to enter back into the building.

Nearby workers have been urged to stay away from windows.
