A PLANE travelling to Amsterdam, from Edmonton, Canada, was forced to land at Manchester Airport early this morning due to chaotic weather conditions.

The KLM flight #KL676 departed from Edmonton Airport at 5.42pm heading for Amsterdam Schipol.

Strong winds and a low cloud base meant some inbound flights to AMS Schiphol were diverted.

Manchester Airport  confirmed that the plane landed safely at 8.54am.

A KLM spokesperson commented: “Due to the weather, a limitation is set at the inbound capacity at AMS Schiphol Aiport. We expect to fly to Amsterdam as soon as possible.”
