AN IRLAM doctors’ surgery has been declared ‘oustanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.

The Height surgery has been commended by for its outstanding consideration for well being and for responding to patient suggestions requests and needs.

The Height General Practice provides primary medical services in Salford, from Monday to Friday. The practice is open and offers appointments between 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday.

The Heights General Practice is situated within the geographical area of Salford Clinical commissioning Group (CCG).

The Heights General Practice is responsible for providing care to 4465 patients.

Dr Tom Tasker, chair of NHS Salford Clinical Comissioning Group, said: “The rating is the highest the CQC can’t issue so everyone involved at The Height General Practice deserves huge credit for this achievement.”

The practice consists of five GPs, one lead GP and three sessional doctors, three of whom were female, a practice nurse and a health care assistant. The practice was supported by a practice manager, assistant manager, receptionists and secretary. The practice is a training practice and has one GP trainee and a 4th year medical student.

The inspectors noted how the practice was proactive and used innovative methods to improve patient care. This included regularly seeking feedback from patients and staff, which was then acted upon.

The practice working closely with its Patient Participation Group, the practice appreciated the impact that loneliness and isolation can have on the health and wellbeing of patients.

The practice runs community events designed to assist with the health and well being of patients.

Nicola Guffogg, practice manager at The Height General Practice, said: “I am delighted the CQC recognised the hard work of the team at the surgery.

“It was pleasing to read the inspectors comments praising the practice for our use of offering patient chaperones.Similarly it was good to see that during their inspection the CQC considered our practice ‘well equipped to treat patients needs.’ That we displayed ‘clear leadership structure’ and the staff felt supported by management.”

The CQC inspectors rated the practice as ‘good’ for safety.
