Worsley Golf Club will be holding the MADCHESTER charity night this Saturday March 3rd to raise money for Georgia’s Children of the World charity.
The makers of G-Festival, one of the North West’s biggest music and entertainment events, present MADCHESTER, a throwback-style event for members of the public to relive the infamous Manchester night scene of the 1980s, while raising money for charity. This video explains a little more about the charity and the work it does.
Last year’s event was a huge success with many Manchester Bees turning up and the organisers hope this year will follow last year’s success. The Ascent will be performing, setting the scene and vibe for 1980s Manchester, alongside two Manchester DJs.
The event will take place at Worsley Golf Club from 7.30pm till LATE. Tickets can be bought here for £10 where all proceeds will go to Georgia’s Children charity.

Organisers Steve Murray and David Lindsay have chosen Worsley Golf Club this year to be more suited to students in the area with cheaper prices behind the bar.
Last year more than 200 people attended the event with an even bigger turnout to be expected this year.
Georgia’s Children of the World was set up in remembrance of Georgia Louise Murray who was born with a complicated heart condition that took her life during her third open-heart surgery in November 2010, aged just 19. For some of her short life she lived with her mother in Swinton.
Her father, Steve Murray, was devastated by her death so went to travel the world with a friend to try to come to terms with his grief.
During his travels, he came across a lot of child poverty, and found a huge spiritual connection in Cambodia where he promised to help make a change to these children’s lives.
Since his journey, Steve has set up ‘Georgia’s House campaign’. In just five years, the charity has opened five houses supporting the education and development of underprivileged children in Cambodia, Romania and Salford.
Steve said: “Events like this are our biggest fundraisers, especially G-Festival, which began as a small fundraiser amongst mine and Georgia’s friends in September 2011.”
Steve added: “We hope to raise even more awareness of the work of Georgia’s Children of the World with children in extreme poverty at home and also around the world. We are hoping to raise in excess of £2,000 so that we can at least continue supporting one child in need, Heidi Lou, who requires physiotherapy.
“Heidi Lou was born with cerebral palsy … caused by lack of oxygen to the brain at birth, so not only is she very physically disabled, she has difficulty speaking and has serious hearing problems. She lives in Swinton a few hundred yards away from where Georgia lived with her mum for several years , before coming to live with me when she was 14.”
“Other money raised from MADCHESTER will all stay local as we believe this is very much a local event in name and nature, so typically we will fund our free school uniform project and the Breakfast Club at the Life Centre.”
