GREATER Manchester Police (GMP) are giving the public the opportunity to tackle antisocial behaviour in Salford by using money seized from criminals.

The Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme (ARIS) gives GMP the opportunity to use money they have taken from criminals (or that they have had to pay back once they’ve been convicted of doing something illegal) to help communities.

GMP now have money available for certain areas in Greater Manchester, including Langworthy in Salford, and they need the public to help decide where it should be spent.

Greater Manchester Police said:

”We are absolutely committed to tackling antisocial behaviour in Salford and across Greater Manchester, and we have listened when you have told us that its something you care about too.

”Our scheme ‘Giving Back’ is an opportunity for people like you to help us give the money to the individuals, organisations and groups that can tackle antisocial behaviour in your community.”

Anyone with an idea for a project that could help tackle antisocial behaviour in Salford can bid for between £200 and £3000.

If you live in Langworthy and want to get involved in a project apply here

The application involves two-steps:

First, there’s a short application form to fill in, which will be assessed by an independent advisory group.

Successful applicants at the first stage will then be invited to an event where they will pitch their idea in front of the local community, who will then vote for the project(s) they want to see go ahead.
