AFTER winning the award for Best Newcomer at the Greater Manchester Fringe Awards in 2017, Tim Keogh is now bringing his debut, coming of age drama to Salford Arts theatre.
The play is set in 1972 Manchester and features a young Steven Patrick Morrissey who becomes inspired after seeing a televised David Bowie performance of hit ‘Starman’.
Recalling his own youth Tim Keogh said: “In people like Morrissey, artistic people, people who were a bit different, the appearance of David Bowie on television gave people the idea that there was another way from the life that you saw around you.
“That was the trigger [for writing the play], and I chose Morrissey because I am a big fan.”

The play was nominated for three awards overall at the Greater Manchester Fringe Awards. Best drama, best actor and best newcomer.
Keogh has begun writing his second play, this time about the life of late Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones. “His story, I think is a very interesting one, so I’m gonna try and tell it.”
Excitement and demand for tickets is high, as Scott from Salford Arts Theatre said: “At the moment, the Saturday night is doing really well. I’m expecting a full house on the Saturday. Over three nights it’s quite good numbers.”
“I went to see the play previously at another venue. I really enjoyed it and that is why I wanted to bring it here.”

The play is running at the Salford Arts Theatre from the 19th to the 21st of April.Tickets cost £10 for adults and £8 for concessions and can be purchased here. Doors open from 7:00pm for a 7:30 start.
