Australian Jackson Hastings has signed a new one-year deal with Salford Red Devils keeping him at the AJ Bell Stadium until 2019.

The former Sydney Roosters star arrived at Salford in July, having a huge impact on the Salford Devils end of season crossing for 5 tries leading Ian Watson’s side to first place in The Qualifiers.

Watson said: “Signing Jackson for the 2019 season Is a great piece of business by the Club, and a great piece of business for Super League as a whole.

His energy and enthusiasm around the Club and the boys is infectious and you can see in the games he’s played how it lifts people around him.”

Hastings said with such a good end to the season it wasn’t a difficult decision, “When I laid in bed at night weighing up my options I really couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else over here.”

The 22-year-old started his career with the Sydney Rooster in 2014. After making 34 appearances in two years at the club, he moved to Manly Warringah where he struggled to settle.

However it looks like the half-back has found a new home at the AJ Bell.

“The amount of support the Club gave me through a tough time in my life, the love that I’ve got from the fans and the respect I’ve got from the playing group is something that if I’d walked away from it I know I wouldn’t have been happy with.”

“I’m happy with my decision and hopefully we can kick on and have a good season next year,” he added.
