Salford City Council have announced on Twitter that the decision has been taken by organisers to cancel the planned ‘Healthy Salford Day’.

The decision has been made due to the adverse weather conditions expected, with storm Callum expected to hit the region with fierce winds and heavy rain.

The event was set to take place at 11am tomorrow morning (Saturday 13th) outside the Lowry Theatre in Salford. ‘Healthy Salford Day’ was planned to tackle obesity in the area and encourage healthier lifestyles.

The Event would have been extremely topical this week, with latest figures revealing that 5.9% of Year 6 students in Salford are obese (NHS Digital). There were a number of planned events and activities taking place throughout the day, including; free health checks, quizzes, walk, cycle rides and nutritional advice. All with the aim of promoting a healthier lifestyle.

Salford City Council have confirmed that the event will be rescheduled for a later date, and that those who wish to attend the day should keep an eye on the Salford City Council Twitter account.
