Tonight on 22nd November the Lowry will be hosting a Christmas Makers Market celebrating small independent businesses.

Every last weekend of the month, the Greater Manchester-based Makers Market sets up shop outside the Lowry Outlet Mall in MediaCityUK.

This four-day market will be festive-themed to get you ready for Christmas, with “the finest and often award-wining food, drink, art and craft producers in the area,” according to their website.

The Makers Market is a collection of independent traders from across the Northwest, showcasing their talents and products.

Sammi of Serameg Y Bala, a handmade ceramics trader from Bala, North Wales, is hosting her first stall on the opening day.

“After finishing my fashion degree, I started pottery classes in March this year.

“After a few classes I bought my own kiln and was hooked!”

She added: “everything is handmade and hand-painted by me.”

Sammi also has a collection of Manchester Bee themed ceramic necklaces, from which £1 of every sale will be donated to the We Love MCR charity.

Her stall will also feature her Christmas decorations, including miniature ceramic Christmas trees and gingerbread men tree decorations, or Sammi can craft personalised gifts to your liking.

Some other gems you might find over the weekend include beeswax oyster shell candles from Sunflowers in the Sea, cake jars from Alex’s Bakery, and even modern and antique taxidermy from Dead Things By Kate. They really do have it all!

Valentina of VRJJ creates her own plant-based luxury candles.

“They are made with essential oils, there are no paraffins like what you might find on the high street.”

Valentina attends most Makers Markets, with the help of her husband and children who are the inspiration for her company name which is hers and their initials.

Her ethically-made candles and room diffusers even have a re-usable tin, as the candle will burn all the way down due to there being no chemicals in the products.

The event coincides with the MediaCityUK Christmas light switch on which will also be on Thursday 22nd, for some extra festive fun this weekend in the run up to December.

Ideal for crossing things off your Christmas shopping list, head down 10am-7pm Thursday to Saturday, or 10am-5pm on Sunday 25th November.
