GMP are investigating an attempted murder following a shooting outside Kingston Mill in Salford

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed they have launched an attempted murder investigation following a shooting in Salford over the weekend. 

The investigation relates to a shooting outside Kingston Mill in the early hours of Saturday morning. The victim is believed to be a male in his 20’s, and was attending a club night at the venue on Cobden Street.

Reports suggest that the man was shot 3 times outside the venue. He was taken to hospital for the injures that he sustained, however it is not believed to be life threatening and he remains in a stable condition.

Detective Inspector Ben Cottam of GMP’s City of Manchester Division said: “We want to reassure the public that a full investigation has been launched andofficers are following numerous lines of enquiry in relation to this incident.

“We are treating this shooting as attempted murder. While we are making good progress with our investigations, I would like to appeal to members of the public for any information they may have.

“This was a well-attended club event and there are potentially a number of witnesses who may be able to assist with our enquiries.

“I want to reiterate that this is believed to be a targeted attack and there is no threat to the wider community.

“Residents in the area of the shooting may notice an increased visible police presence, and we would encourage members of the public to approach officers with any concerns they may have.”

Greater Manchester Police do not feel that the incident poses a wider threat to the community, instead believing that this was an isolated event.
