Christmas can be a costly time of year, with presents to buy, Black Friday sales to endure and Christmas parties to think about, the season can leave your pockets feeling rather empty. With this in mind it is often hard to stay festive, that’s why we have put together a guide of free festive events happening in Salford this December.

For those who enjoy spending time outdoors or simply hold the 1978 novel ‘The Snowman’ close to their heart, The Walking with The Snowman trail is the perfect activity to get you in the festive spirit. Whether it is with family or friends the Walking with The Snowman trail provides fun for all ages and is completely cost free. The giant Snowmen, which are inspired by Raymond Briggs famous 1978 children’s novel ‘The Snowman’, are designed to reference each of the 12 days of Christmas, as well as celebrating the 40th Birthday of the festive novel. The trail sets the perfect backdrop for festive selfies as well as family photos that can be treasured forever, or put on the front of a family Christmas card. The snowmen are available to melt hearts in MediaCityUK until 16th January 2019.

5. Nature Walks – Peel Park, Clifton Park.

For those who want to burn off the mince pies they’ve inevitably been eating, plenty of festive nature walks are running during the festive period.

The Salford Ranger team have organised some fantastic informative walks for anyone that cares to join. This includes a walk in Salford’s own Peel Park lead by expert naturalist David Winnard from Discover the Wild.

Expect to learn lots about the trees in Peel Park and surrounding meadows on this educational tour of the landscape. The walk will take place on Sunday 2nd December from 10am until 2pm.

For those unable to join, a boxing day walk will be held by the Salford Ranger Team at Clifton Country Park. No walking experience required, however it is advised that you wear sensible shoes and wrap up warm.
