Media City UK’s Social7 hosted an elegant launch party for Walkden based Sports Tours International’s new charity venture, The Running Bee Foundation.

The Foundation will work with local communities to fund healthy and active lifestyle initiative and to help fight childhood obesity.

The Foundation has multiple ambassadors, trustees and sponsors – the founding sponsor is Lawrence Jones MBE, CEO of UK Fast.

The event was hosted by Rob Mcloughlin OBE, formerly of ITV Granada, who introduced the CEO of Sports Tours International, Chris Bird.

He spoke of the vision and values for the foundation, the main value being ‘to deliver a robust corporate and social responsibility legacy program’.

The Foundation will be donating all of its profits from local running events, in line with its values and vision, to important local causes.

Bird brought Fred Done, founder of Betfred and Sports Tours International, to the stage and explained that the Foundation was being set up in memory of Fred’s late wife Mo Done.

‘She would be absolutely proud of this, it would give her a big kick thinking they are doing something for me, I can see her up there smiling’.

Done added: ‘I was speaking to a man tonight who made £12 million in investments, let’s hope this can go that far’.

There are currently 9 events held throughout the year by Sports Tours International, including the UKFast City of Salford 10k and the Jingle Bell Jog, all profits from these events will be donated to The Running Bee Foundation.

There were multiple surprise presentations made by Bird throughout the night, including the foundations first grant of £500 to the Anthony Seddon Fund.

The max grant fund is £2000 and application forms are available by emailing runningbee@sportstoursinternational.co.uk
