Lucy Kirkham, Miss England semi-finalist

A 23-year-old Miss England semi-finalist from Manchester, organised a charity event in Mash Tun to raise money for Papyrus.

Lucy Kirkham has decided to host a charity gig night as part of her Miss England duties for the semi-finals taking place on Sunday, June 16.

She chose to focus her attention on Papyrus which supports, equips and influences the prevention of young suicide.

The event encouraged people to give a minimum of £3 donations towards the Papyrus charity with a raffle and various prizes at the end.

The night had a line-up of talented singers and songwriters expressing their feelings towards the prevention of suicide.

Miss Kirkham not only organised an event for Papyrus but also raised just over £700 for the charity by taking the extreme on an airplane wing walk.

Lucy has been chosen as a semi-finalist for Miss England and explained it’s the opposite of what most people think and said: “They focus on raising money for charity, so you get to pick the cause and do community work and basically just use the platform to do good.”
