Speaking after the game, Irlam secretary Warren Dodd spoke to the hallmark security league website.

Mr Dodd said: “We are all very happy. The last 32 of the Vase is something we have never experienced before, so we are in unknown territory.

“It’s important now that we try and progress in the Vase, and we must think big.”

Mr Dodd is confident of his sides chances of progressing as well, feeling that this Irlam side can continue to make history.

He said: “We are playing well, we have a good side, confidence is high and with our next opponents Cadbury Athletic only being in mid-table in Division One in their league, we are in with a good chance to progress further.”

The game against Cadbury Athletic is set to take place inside the new year, on January 5.
