Lancashire Cricket have announced that Brooke Guest and Liam Hurt have extended their contracts with the club which will see the pair play at Emirates Old Trafford until at least the end of the 2020 season.

Guest has signed a new two-year deal, while Hurt has extended his current contract by a further year.

Guest, 21, was born in Manchester but has represented Australia U19s and joined the Club in 2016 after committing his future to playing for England. This is his first full-time professional contract having signed two summer contracts previously at Emirates Old Trafford.

He averaged 53 in the Second XI Championship this summer and that form saw the wicket keeper batsman selected to make his first class debut in the final game of this season – helping Lancashire to an eight wicket win against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl in September. He also played an important role in the success of the Second XI side that won T20 Finals Day at Arundel this summer.

Guest said: “To make my debut in the final game of the season at Hampshire was a huge step in my career and it was a week that I will always remember.

“I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to continue my development at Lancashire. It’s a great squad to be part of and I’m determined to break my way into the First Team next season.”

Hurt, who signed a two-year professional contract last year, is a seamer from Preston who took 19 wickets in the Second XI Championship this summer, after progressing through the Lancashire age-group system.

The 24 year-old, who plays for Clifton Cricket Club, commented: “I am delighted to have extended my stay with Lancashire. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first full year as a professional cricketer and will be looking to build on that in 2019.

”The Club is providing an environment in which I feel I can continue to develop as a player and I’m really looking forward to next two years and beyond.”

Lancashire Head Coach Glen Chapple added: “Liam and Brooke both impressed for the Second XI this summer, which led to Brooke being rewarded with his first-class debut at Hampshire.

“I’m really pleased they’ve both signed new contracts with the Club and they’ll be pushing for First Team places in 2019.”
