This weekend sees the 2019 HSBC UK | National Track Championships return to Manchester.

The HSBC UK | National Cycling Centre in the east of the city will see the stars of cycling in Britain battle it out with the young stars of the future for the coveted national jerseys up for grabs.

Events in men’s, women’s and para-cycling disciplines will take place across the three days with 22 in in total being contested on the boards.

The biggest news leading up to the event was that four-time Olympic champion, Laura Kenny will compete in her first National Championships since 2015. The 26-year-old will contest both the points and the scratch races. She will face competition from fellow Rio gold medallists – Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker.

Archibald was the most successful cyclists on the Mancunian boards in 2018 – collecting three medals for the Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling team. The 24-year-old will compete in the individual pursuit and sprint races.

Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey will also be present at the Championships, competing in the endurance events.

In the men’s events, Britain’s joint-most decorated Olympian, Jason Kenny, will compete again this year. He’ll be using the event as valuable preparation ahead of the UCI Track Cycling World Championships next month.

Jack Carlin and John Archibald will also be in attendance, aiming for both team and individual success.
