Sale Sharks have today released a statement stating that Mark Jennings will be taking a sabbatical from professional rugby for the foreseeable future.

The 25 year old centre has been a member of the Sharks squad for the last 8 years, but has suffered quite a number of different injuries over his career. Jennings and the club agreed that taking a step away from the game is the best decision going forward for his future.

This isn’t the first news over Jennings and injuries, as two years ago he said he was worried over the future of his playing career.

Fans have been shocked by the statement and are already hyping up his comeback to the team.

Mark, who has over 90 appearances for the club since joining in 2012, was a big prospect for the Sharks and will definitely be missed during his absence.

Jennings spoke about the recent announcement saying,  “I would like to thank Sale Sharks for the opportunity and more importantly the understanding to allow me to fully recover away from the club and hopefully make my return once I am fully fit.”

Steve Diamond, the Director of rugby at Sale Sharks also commented on the recent news, “Mark has been a great member of the squad throughout the last eight years and I’d like to thank Mark for his contribution to the club. We wish him well in his recovery process.”
