Salford City’s winless streak continues after a 0-2 defeat to fellow promotion hopefuls Eastleigh at the Peninsula Stadium.

A brace from Paul McCallum means the Ammies suffer their fourth loss on the bounce in all competitions and have not registered a league win since the their trip to Leyton Orient in January.

Salford dominated the early proceedings, however failed to create any clear cut chances and were punished when McCallum headed home a chipped cross into the net after 25 minutes.

The home side looked more lively after the halftime break and could have been ahead when bundled over a goal line scramble which was subsequently disallowed due to a foul in the area.

However, Eastleigh looked the better side and grabbed their second after 52 minutes with a goal almost identical to their first, cross in from the right and tapped in for McCallum’s second.

The result now means the away side leapfrog the Ammies into fifth while Graham Alexander’s side drop down to sixth, nine points of league leaders Wrexham.
