Ex-Salford Red Devils and Swinton Lions hooker Liam Hood became the fourth player to leave the Widnes Vikings in a week.
The Scottish International announced that he was leaving for personal reasons, he was quoted in saying: “For myself and my family, the last couple of years has been really, really tough.”
He released this statement on his personal Twitter account:

The Vikings released a statement saying: “As a club, Widnes Vikings would like to go on record and thank Liam Hood for his service to the Vikings and wish him the very best of luck for the future.”
The 27-year old hooker made 22 appearances for the Salford Red Devils in the 2015 season where the club could only manage an 11th place finish out of 12 clubs. This meant they had to play in the Super 8 Qualifiers where they were able to preserve their Super League status with a 3rd place finish.
He then made the short journey to sign for the Swinton Lions and made just the four appearances in the 2016 season. The Lions finished 9th in the Rugby League Championship, failing to qualify for a Super 8 Qualifiers spot.
He then joined Leigh Centurions where he made 65 appearances, scoring 26 tries in the process.
Joining Widnes next, the Scottish international leaves with the club narrowly avoiding liquidation. They were however able to bounce back from a tough week to claim victory over Featherstone in the Betfred Championship.
