Greater Manchester construction business The Seddon Group is the 2019 sponsorship of the Walkden Cricket Clubs kit.

Seddon will be the new sponsors of the ECB Clubmark-accredited Walkden Cricket Club, with the logo shown in red on the front of the kit.

The local club was founded in 1899 and has been one of the most successful Bolton Cricket league members, having won the League Championship over thirteen times.

Duncan Williams, Regional Director at Seddon said: “Seddon was established in Little Hulton and continue to work in the area so are pleased to support the local community where we can.

“Many of our employees are from the wider Salford region so we were delighted when Walkden Cricket Club approached us to sponsor the new team kit and we wish them the best of luck for the season.”

As well as helping out the Walkden team, Seddon is also involved within the Salford Skills For Business Apprenticeship Fund, which provides apprenticeship training within small to medium sized organisations.

The apprenticeship scheme was announced by Salford City Council on the 6th of March and has helping hands from the University of Salford, Apprenticeships at Salford City College, Bupa, Salix Homes and Seddon.

The scheme will be gifting up to £250,000 of apprenticeship training funding to small and medium sized organisations, and is expected to grow as more organisations confirm funding in the coming weeks and months. The partnership has also secured a further £114,000 Greater Manchester Combined Authority funding to support a higher proportion of the apprentice’s salary costs.

The aim of the fund is to develop and retain the best possible talent in Salford by creating opportunities for people of all ages, to maintain relevant qualifications, helping to raise skills, capabilities and aspirations.
