The Quays Duck Race will celebrate its 5th anniversary in April after more than 850 rubber ducks set sail in last year, raising over £5000 for MedEquip4Kids.

MedEquip4Kids is a children’s health charity which aims to ensure the best possible care for sick children, babies and teens.

The race will take place on the 19th of the month, and will commence at the Helly Hanson Water Sports Centre.

Celebrations kick off at 12:30 for guests to indulge in a range of food and drink stalls, all provided by local ‘Salfordian’ vendors. There will also be additional activities to engage with before the race starts, such as a tombola and a rock-climbing wall – the perfect duck race warm-up.

The main event begins with the Mega Duck Race at 3pm, featuring giant ducks decorated and sponsored by local businesses. The main ‘Big Ducking Race’ will commence at 3:30pm, and hopes to see even more ducks than last year.

Want to race? ‘Big Race Ducklings’ cost just £2 and can be sponsored in advance or on the day of the race.

‘Business Challenge Mega Ducks’ can be sponsored by any organisation, business group or individual who would like to take part for £250.

This year, The Quays Duck Race is sponsored by the Lowry Outlet, and hope to raise even more money than last year.

In celebration of the race to come, we brought our own ducks – Donald and Daphne – on a day out to the quays…
