The Macmillan Cancer Support and information service bus will be coming to Greater Manchester and Salford this week.
The bus will be visiting Walkden retail park tomorrow and will be available to anyone who needs to chat are seek advice about cancer.
The idea of the bus is for people to come and speak about their problems and ask any questions they feel the need to.
A spokesperson from Macmillan, Geri Timmis, said: “it’s a great way for people to talk about any issues that people may have with the disease and find out what help and support is available to them.”
Because some people may not want to visit a doctor or hospital, the service is brought directly to them.
Allowing them to come and have a talk about the illness as they get on with their everyday lives.
The bus contains a whole host of experts including a dietitian and a radiotherapist so that any questions you may have can be answered effectively and with expertise.
If you are suffering from cancer and are in need of financial support the bus also has a welfare rights adviser who can answer any questions you may have about getting benefits for your illness.
Manchester’s bus, named Basil, will be travelling all over the North West.
The bus will be visiting various locations in Greater Manchester this week including Walkden and Eccles.
Geri Timmis explained that the bus will have a great focus on Manchester because of the high population and the deprivation people face in some areas.
So Macmillan want to make people aware of the services that are available to them.
