Irlam Live music festival kicks off this Friday (31 May) at Prince’s Park with performances from Clint Boon, Mike Sweeney’s band Salford Jets and many more.
The festival takes place over three days and also features acts such as Marc Almond from Soft Cell, The Farm and The Christians.
Sweeney’s band Salford Jets ensure a strong local presence at the festival, which started in 2016 to provide the community to come together locally.
What started out as being a small plan has now turned into something altogether bigger, with chart-topping acts such as 5ive and Toploader appearing this year.
Other headline acts include top Oasis and Stone Roses tribute bands, Oaces and The Clone Roses, appearing on Friday night. Almond headlines on Saturday, while From The Jam, featuring Bruce Foxton, round out the event on Sunday.
Darren Goulden, the co-organiser of Irlam Live, said that he is excited for the festival: “There is super a great lineup including some surprise acts that won’t be announced until on the day.”
“We want to involve everyone so we have a large group of special educational needs children coming along and a disabled adult group.”
“People come with two or three family generations with grandmothers bringing their kids and their grand kids.”
The festival also has sponsors from 30 local businesses to get the community involved more.
Over 9,000 people are expected to attend the festival this weekend and a local councillor is expected to open it.
Tickets are still available for the festival, which starts on Friday 31st May.
