Free legal advice is now being offered to Salford residents from Lek Legal Services, a new branch of the Launch Project.

Natalie Lek, founder of the Launch Project, started Lek Legal Services this month to offer free legal advice to Salford residents.

Natalie said: “We are in a situation now in the community where we’ve got more people going without money from benefits than ever before.”

The services that are being offered are completely free of charge and include advice on sanctions and penalties, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Universal Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax.

They also offer help with completion of forms and will accompany clients to tribunals, even speaking on their behalf in court where the individual may not be able to or does not feel confident enough.

Appointments can be made via their Facebook page and meetings can either be at the Lek Legal Services office in St James’ House, Pendelton Way or at the client’s home.

Natalie said: “It’s very informal, we make sure that we do it over a cup of tea or a cup of coffee and we have a chat and we understand the person and the situation.

“It’s very easy just to look at information on paper and not truly get a grasp of the proper situation.”

Natalie added: “This service is available to everyone, as is everything that the Launch Project does.

“I want to make sure that this service is accessed by as many members of the community as possible and we support as many people in the community as possible.”
