It’s time to get your Christmas spirit on this month and show the Grinch what he’s missing!
The Grinch will make his appearance in Salford at the Lowry Outlet’s extra special Whoville Christmas Markets.
In true festive form, the Lowry Outlet is throwing their own Christmas gatherings at MediaCity every weekend until the 22nd of December, with a whole feast of treats for guests to indulge in.

Actvities include a special ‘Whoville Post Office’ for children to send their letters to Santa, a ‘Whoville Present Trail’ for families to find the Grinch’s stolen gifts and also the Mount Crumpit reading area, which is open from 10AM until 4PM, for the baby bookworms of the family.
And – most importantly – the Christmas Makers Market, featuring a plethora of stalls selling treats ranging from stuffed sausage rolls to artisan jewelry, with a new set of traders each weekend.
Last weekend saw a great set of sellers, including Liv’s Cupcakes, Ross’ Rolls, Ted & Belle Perfume, Julia’s Healing Jewels and sustainable living shop, Ecologue.
Claire Ross and her store Buddleia with Love, is due to attend two out of five weekends of the Lowry’s Christmas Markets, selling homemade candles and wax melts.
She said: “I work as a crime scene investigator in the police force so I’ve got a background in chemistry and biology, and so that’s how I started the business as a kind of hobby, to kind of give me a bit of an outlet.”
“Also my husband was sick of me having loads of candles and bath products in the house!” She continued.
Claire’s candles come in a range of flavours, with special edition scents including ‘Mulled Wine’ and ‘Winter’s Day’.
Every candle is made from scratch and is created with 100% vegan-friendly and sustainable ingredients – something she holds at the heart of her business.
‘Design from discard’ store Metaforma, ran by power-couple Jamie and Becky Taylor Sharman, arrived at the markets on Sunday for its first (and last) time with a colourful display of up-cycled jewelry.
Made from wood and resin, each item is handcrafted by Jamie, with the intention of transforming old, discarded items into beautiful pieces of art.
Becky said: “We’re both trained in making stuff, and when we went away for a bit, we missed hands-on, handmade, recycling, up-cycling and that sort of thing, so we thought we’ll have a go.”
Setting up a shop on the first floor of the Lowry Outlet, the Christmas Makers Market is inspired by the upcoming showings of Dr Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical” at the Lowry Theatre. To celebrate the arrival of the musical, the star of the show, Mr Grinch, will be there to meet and greet (and scare) your little ones too.
The Whoville markets themselves run from 10AM until 7PM every Saturday, and from 11PM until 5PM every Sunday. They are free to attend, and run every Saturday and Sunday until 22 December 2019.
