On the 24th November, the Running Bee foundation organised the ‘Jingle Bell Jog’ to raise money for charity. Hundreds took part in a Christmas themed 4K run around MediaCityUK, Salford.

The run started and finished at MediaCityUK Piazza.

All finishers received a special Christmas medal with a special selection box. No times were taken and attendants were allowed to do the run in their own time.

Real life reindeer and two official Manchester mascots, Moonbeam and Moonchester also attended the event.

Stephen Owens, Foundations operations manager, talked about publicizing the event and the advantages it would have brought to MediaCity: “We have been using most channels to promote the event through social media, emailing people from last year, and encouraging Salford Council to spread the word.

“This event will be really helpful for media city business as it is connected to the markets and ice rink. Attendants of the event are likely to go to spend money there afterwards.”

Sue and Clare who came with eight other members of Stockport Cadets ran for charity for caring for police survivors called  cops, helping bereaved or injured family members, supporting them through their difficult times.

Another runner described it as a “really good charity event for anyone, you don’t have to be really fit. And it’s just in the Christmas spirit so why not start Christmas in November.”
