The University of Salford is offering a free life drawing class in partnership with the LGBT Foundation.

Starting at 6pm today, guests are invited to stay and paint until 7.30pm.

The class will be held in room 6.23 in the Adelphi Building, which is located on the main campus. The event is one of three, with each class featuring a discussion about queer sex.

Following a cancelled session last night, this class will focus on ‘working with opposites’, with a talk surrounding the idea of “working against what we are used to”.

Laura Prestbury, a member of the School of Arts and Media Engagement team, said:  “We have a good working relationship with the LGBT Foundation and actively encourage them to provide their support services to our students and staff.”

“We are delighted that they are using our art studios to provide life drawing classes,” she continued, “where LGBT sexual health can be discussed in a safe and creative environment.”

The LGBT Foundation is a charitable organisation which has been supporting the needs of the LGBT community of Greater Manchester for 44 years. With a main aim to be “here if you need us”, the organisation believes in encouraging LGBT people to increase skills, knowledge and self-confidence, whilst also pledging to make the city – and the world – a safer place for them to live in.

“In the School of Arts and Media, we continue to develop partnerships and opportunities so that our students can engage with the creative industries and fully express themselves, embracing who they are as individuals.” Said Laura Prestbury.

No payment or registration is needed, simply turn up and take part. The next – and final – session will take place next Thursday at 6pm.
