Internationally renowned outdoor arts experts from Walk the Plank will bring their hugely popular Fire Garden to Wakefield over the course of two evenings.

Marketing officer at Walk the Plank, Maddie Doyle, claims: “It’s about bringing people out to the streets.

“It’s also about connecting communities and to celebrate cultural heritage. It’s a great way to bring people into the town centre, to spend a bit more time there.”

Maddie also expresses: “People can get quite close up to the sculptures and feel the heat; it’s quite a warming experience.

“It’s very interactive and immersive.”

Here is an interview with the marketing officer, Maddie Doyle:

Visitors can expect to stumble upon “intricately carved flower boxes and feel the heat from the flame filled floral chimneys” that will also be on display.

There will also be mechanical lotus flowers and plants that will burst into flames right before your eyes.

The Fire Garden show will be more of a visual and sensory treat where visitors will be astonished by the illuminated cityscape for the two nights.

This outdoor family experience also aims to celebrate the arrival of the transitions of a new season as it will be held two days before the British Summertime begins.

Maddie explains the reason behind this upcoming ‘Night of Fire and Light’ show: “It’s celebrating that time of year where we are moving into Spring time so it’s that whole transition.”
