Salford Celebrates World Book Day

It is the 23rd Annual World Book Day and schools in Salford have been taking part in the celebrations.

World Book Day celebrates books, authors, illustrators and characters whilst encouraging young people to read. This helps to show the importance of reading and literacy.

Many schools mark World Book Day by encouraging their students to dress up as their favourite characters from books and schools in Salford have been doing the same:

It’s not just dressing up that schools in Salford have been getting up to for World Book Day however; Cadishead Primary have got their pupils to bring in Bedtime Book Boxes which include a bedtime story, cuddly toy and hot chocolate whilst James Brindley Community Primary School have got their teachers to dress up as characters from books too.

World Book Day is a registered charity, created by UNESCO with the aim to get more children reading by providing book tokens for as many children that they can.

It is celebrated in over 100 countries across the world.

This year, World Book Day are hoping to get over a million people to ‘Share A Story’:
