Sale Sharks’ season domestically has been their best in years, the play-offs look a likely outcome and they have paved their way to a cup final this weekend, just a game away from their first silverware since they won the Guinness Premiership at Twickenham in 2006.

Despite struggling in their return to the Heineken Champions Cup, Sale’s season has gone from strength to strength, moving up to second in the Gallagher Premiership table after last weekend’s 39-0 thrashing of London Irish.

The Sharks face a tough test however against a strong Harlequins side.

Sale remain unbeaten in the competition this season, winning all three of their pool matches before their 28-7 semi-final victory over Saracens last month.

The Premiership Rugby Cup was only formed last season to replace the Anglo-Welsh Cup. The tournament consists of three groups of four and the only teams in the competition are Premiership clubs.

Northampton Saints won the competition last season after they beat Saracens in the final.

Sale’s Director of Rugby Steve Diamond will desperately want his team to do the same, win in front of their home fans this Sunday at the AJ Bell and lift the Premiership Rugby Cup for the very first time.
